An Historical Perspective on Innovation

Originally It was thought ...

That discovery and invention just happened with very smart people and no one else could rise up to the masters level.

This remained true throughout the ages until 1946 when a Russian scientist named Dr.Genrich Altshuller began research to understand the difference in how innovative people think and resolve problems.

These efforts morphed into TRIZ (pronounced 'Trees'). This is the acronym of the Russian name. When translated into English, it means "Theory of Inventor's Problem Solving". Evolving over time, TRIZ grew into a collection of methodologies, tools, knowledge bases and model based technologies for generating innovative ideas and inventive solutions. Numerous colleagues, most with roots leading back to Altshuller and the pre-Soviet era of TRIZ known as 'Classical TRIZ'

The methodology here is based on a TRIZ varient called I-TRIZ (Ideation-TRIZ) developed with several of the original TRIZ masters and former colleagues of Altshuller. Bringing them together was the effort of an Israeli entrepreneur Zion Bar-El leading to the creation of a company named "Ideation, International "
